CPT David L. Clayton

CPT David L. Clayton is from West Sacramento, California. He graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2001 and enlisted in the army as a Communication INTEL Analyst in May of 2003. After graduation from Good fellow Air Force Base, Texas, he was assigned to 732nd INTEL Battalion, KRSOC, and Schofield, Hawaii. He deployed from 2004-2005 with Special Operation Command in Bagram Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He commissioned through Officer Candidate School as distinguished honor graduated in 2006 at Fort Benning, Georgia.

CPT Clayton was assigned as the AS2 to 4-42FA, 1BCT, 4ID Paladin unit in preparation for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed in 2008-2009 he served as MiTT S2 and Infantry Platoon Leader. Upon his return to Fort Hood CPT Clayton served as Task Force Hood S1; coordinating the movement of 4ID from Fort Hood to Fort Caron, Colorado. In 2009 Captain Clayton served as the Operations Officer for C Battery, 1-21FA and later served as the Battalion S4, prior to attending the FA Captain Career Course, at Fort Sill. After graduation Captain Clayton returned to 1-21FA as the AS3 and S3 in preparation of deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Captain Clayton served as a D-30 gun line instructor to the Afghan Army.

CPT Clayton’s military schools include Advance Military Transition Team, Advance Intelligence Training, Officer Candidate School, the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, and the Field Artillery Captains Career Course. CPT Clayton’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq and Afghan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Army Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon.

CPT Clayton is married to the former Miss Danielle Nicole Clifford of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
