Command Sergeant Major Mark L. Brinton

 

Command Sergeant Major Mark L. Brinton entered the Army on 1 October 1986. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma graduating as a Cannon Crewmember (13B).

Command Sergeant Major Brinton deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom I, Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 and Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-10.


Command Sergeant Major Brinton has served as a Gunner, Special Weapons NCOIC, Howitzer Section Chief, Recruiter, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Observer/Controller, Operations Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major. Command Sergeant Major Brinton is also a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.


Command Sergeant Major Brinton’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Infantry Weapons Specialist Course, Air Assault Course, Recruiter Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Paladin Commander Course, Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Course, FBCB2 Course, Basic Combatives Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Non-Resident Class 03-10, Pre-Command Course and Command Sergeants Major Course.


Command Sergeant Major Brinton’s civilian education includes an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Vincennes University, Indiana and an Associate’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Honolulu Community College, Hawaii. He is close to completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Administration and Management from Excelsior College, New York.


Command Sergeant Major Brinton’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (three Oak Leaf Clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (five Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (nine Oak Leaf Clusters), the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (eighth award), the National Defense Service Medal (one Service Star), the Iraqi Campaign Medal (five Service Stars), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 6). Command Sergeant Major Brinton has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion, the Gold Army Recruiter Badge with three Sapphire Stars, the Army Recruiter Ring, Gold Spurs, Silver Spurs and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara’s Medallion.
