First Sergeant Troy J. Cummings

1SG Troy J Cummings of Merrill, Maine, graduated High School at Southern Arroostook Community High School in 1987. He Joined the United States Army as a Field Artillery Cannoneer in August of 1987 and has served honorably since. After graduating from 13B AIT, in September 1987, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, at FT. Carson Colorado, as a HEMTT driver. In March of 1989, he was assigned to HOW Battery 3rd Squadron, 11th ACR, at Bad Hersfeld, Germany, where he served as a Howitzer Driver, Number one Cannonneer, and a Gunner. In March of 1992 he was assigned to 5th Battalion, 29th Field Artillery at FT. Carson, Colorado, where he served as an Ammunition Team Chief and Gunner. In March of 1995 he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 3rd Field Artillery at Kirchgoens Germany, where he served as a Section Chief. In March of 1996 he was assigned to 3rd Battalion 82nd Filed Artillery at FT. Hood Texas, where he served as a Section Chief.

In March of 2000 he was assigned to Dallas Recruiting Battalion with duty in Killeen, Texas recruiting station, While there he served as a recruiter and was the Top producing recruiter for Dallas Recruiting Battalion fiscal year 2001, He accomplished the task of earning his Army Recruiting Ring during his tour as a recruiter. In March of 2003 he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery at Fort Hood Texas, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and deployed to OIF II. In July of 2005 he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 395th Field Artillery at Fort Hood Texas, where he served as the Senior Observer, Controller, Trainer for B Battery. In March of 2007 he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery at Fort Hood Texas, where he served as the First Sergeant for A Battery and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery. While serving as the First Sergeant he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In October of 2009 he was assigned to 1st Battalion 21st Field Artillery at Fort Hood Texas, where is currently serving as the First Sergeant of A Battery
