Captain Jeffrey M. Harris hails from Sandy, Utah. He enlisted as a Cannon Crewmember in 2001. After graduation from Cannon Crew Member (13B) One Station Unit Training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and Airborne School, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment (ABN) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After serving three years and attaining the rank of Sergeant, he attended Officer Candidate School and on 9 December 2004 was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery.
Captain Harris was assigned to Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment (ABN), 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (ABN), where he served as the Fire Support Officer (FSO) while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2006-2008, executing over 140 ground missions. Later he served as the 1-40 Cavalry (ABN) Battalion Assistant S3. In July 2008, he attended the Field Artillery Captains Career Course where he distinguished himself by having the Highest Physical Fitness Score for his class. Captain Harris was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters Fire Support Element (FSE) where he served as the Fires Battle Major in the Division Operation’s Center in support of OIF 09-10. Within six months of redeployment, Captain Harris was assigned to 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Fires Brigade as the Logistics and Budget Officer (S4).
Captain Harris’ military schools include Airborne School, Officer Candidate School, the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Field Artillery Captains Career Course, and Joint Firepower Course. Captain Harris’ awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge (CAB), the Parachutist Badge, the German Parachutist Badge, the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon (2 OLC).
Captain Harris graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a double minor in Spanish and Coaching.
Captain Harris is married to the former Miss Cinthia Magaly Vera Flores of Chorrillos, Lima, Peru.
