Captain Ryan Debeltz

CPT Debeltz

Captain Ryan Debeltz was born in Grand Marais, MN and grew up in Duluth, MN. Captain Debeltz was commissioned through the Army Officer Candidate School program in the Field Artillery in February 2006. He Graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Education.

Captain Debeltz began his military career in September 2001 when he enlisted in the Army as an Infantry Mortarman. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion 8th Calvary Regiment. While assigned to 1st CAV he served as an Infantry team leader during a combat tour in Iraq for OIF II. Captain Debeltz began OCS in 2005 and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course in April 2006. Upon completion of the FAOBC Course in August 2006, Captain Debeltz was assigned to the Fires Brigade where he served as a Fire Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for A Battery 1-21FA. Later he was assigned as 1-21 FA Rear Detachment Commander for the units latest deployment to Iraq. His follow-on assignment was to the Field Artillery Captains Career Course. Upon Graduation from the Captains Career Course he attended the Air Force Joint Firepower Course and was then reassigned to 1-21FA, as the Battalion Fire Direction Officer.

Captain Debeltz’s military schools include Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Captains Career Course, Army Airborne School and the Air Force Joint Firepower Course. His awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medal, Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and Overseas Ribbon. He has earned the Combat infantryman’s Badge and the Army Parachutist Badge.

Captain Debeltz and his wife Amee have five children: Sebastianna, Kimberlee, Brandon, Caleb and Caiden.
