Marines Honor Fallen Engineers


LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq — Marines attached to the Army's 372nd Engineer Group paused to honor three fallen comrades at a memorial service held in the Sustainer Theater here Tuesday.

Sgt. Alan D. Sherman, Cpl. John H. Todd and Lance Cpl. Patrick R. Adle were killed in action June 29 when their unit, Bridge Company Bravo of Folsom Pa., was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Sherman, 36, of Wanamassa, NJ., had been a Marine since 1995. He is survived by his sons Joshua and Logan, father Austin and his mother Sarah Sherman.

Todd, 25, of Bridgeport, Pa., entered the Marine Corps in 1998. He is survived by his wife Colleen M. Rado, parents, Mr. John H. and Mrs. Carol A. Todd and a brother, Michael.

Adle, 21, of Bel Air, Md.,entered the Marine Corps in 2001. He is survived by his father, Michael Adle, mother, Pamela Watts and brother, Michael Adle Jr.

The ceremony included tributes to the fallen, the firing of volleys, Taps and the traditional last roll call.
