New Clinic in Local Village

LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq — 13th COSCOM soldiers joined local sheiks and other village leaders to open a medical clinic Thursday in a village near here.

Soldiers from the 4th Corps Material Management Center sponsored the Al Bu Hasan clinic supervising the progress of the U.S. funded project.

"{The old building} was in pretty bad shape," said Capt. John Wishart, one of the sponsors. This project expanded the clinic by at least two thirds.

Construction took eight weeks and employed only local labor putting much needed funds back into the economy.

The Al Bu Hasan clinic is one of dozens of infrastructure projects sponsored by the 13th COSCOM.

Since January, the COSCOM has supervised over $2M in improvements to the area surrounding here.
