49th Transportation Battalion Holds Combat Patch Ceremony

LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq — Twenty-eight movement control teams belonging to the 13th COSCOM's 49th Transportation Battalion were presented with the shoulder-sleeve insignia for former wartime service in a ceremony here Thursday.

Commanders and Noncommissioned officers-in-charge from all of the 49th Trans. Bn.'s outlying units came together for the ceremony and were symbolically awarded the combat patch, on behalf of all their soldiers, by Maj. Peter Butts, the acting battalion commander.

Butts praised his Soldiers for their six months of hard work. The teams ensure the smooth flow of all military and civilian contractor vehicle traffic in Iraq stretching from the borders with Iran, Turkey and Jordan down to Kuwait.

The battalion leadership held a two-day commander's conference that culminated in the patch ceremony.
