New MWR center opens

LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq — New pool tables, computers, video games, dartboards and a 106-inch projection screen television are among the amenities offered at the new Morale, Welfare and Recreation center that opened here Nov. 23.

The 28,000 square foot structure took more than 8 months to complete but service members here appreciated the effort.

"I think of the new facility as a home away from home," said Sgt. Eric Quiroz, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 13th COSCOM. He said the MWR center provides a nice atmosphere to relax in after being in a hostile environment outside the wire.

The new center is just one of the many MWR facilities on LSA Anaconda designed to improve the quality of life for service members and civilians here.
