Soldiers open new police station


LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq — Soldiers from LSA Anaconda joined local village leaders and the chief of police in opening a new police station in Hatamia Village Dec. 1.

The police station is a newly constructed building that provides critical infrastructure to the police force of the local village. Iraqi contractors built the new $65,000 facility, which was sponsored by the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, Army Materiel Command and the 13th COSCOM civil affairs staff.

Since their arrival in January, the 13th COSCOM has sponsored more than $4.2 million of infrastructure improvements in the areas surrounding LSA Anaconda.
