The 932nd Blood Support Detachment of the 21st Combat Support Hospital was activated April 14 in a ceremony on the 13th Corps Support Command Guidon Field.

Maj. Barbara J. Bachman, who entered the Army as a second lieutenant in 1994, took over command of the newly activated unit in a ceremony witnessed by friends, family and military guests of the soldiers now under Bachman's leadership.

Col. Douglas A. Liening, commander of the 21st, delegated command of the new unit to Bachman, telling Bachman to not be overwhelmed by the responsibility of command, but rather to embrace it.

Bachman accepted that responsibility, symbolized by her receipt of the unit guidon. After accepting the guidon, Bachman marched over to the podium.

Leaning slightly towards the microphone, Bachman declared, "We will be a unit that is sought by many. 932nd, let's make history!"
