Live jazz tunes filled the air while soldiers and family members got together in a formal setting for this year's COSCOM spring ball held at the Killeen Civic center May 20th.
There was food, there were drinks but most of all Soldiers had each other. Soldiers enjoyed the evening's festivities which included live bands and a special guest speaker, former 13 COSCOM commander, Gen. Johnnie E. Wilson [Retired].
Due to the many deployments to Iraq the COSCOM has not been able host traditional military functions such as this year's formal.
"It's been almost two and half years since the COSCOM has come together in a formal setting," said Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Elder, 13th COSCOM command sergeant major. "It's been sometime since all three brigades have come together with the command."
"It was an opportunity to honor ourselves, each other and our service and to spend some time in a formal setting," Elder said.
All Solders of the COSCOM were invited to attend the formal event.
"It was my first time to a formal event and I definitely had a good time," said Spc. Nathan 'Ski' Kuharsky, 13th COSCOM HHC STB. "I would definitely go to another ball."
"I really enjoyed seeing the camaraderie of all COSCOM leaders and soldiers," added Kuharsky. "It seemed as if good times were had by all."
Soldiers of the 13th COSCOM gather for a spring formal ball at the Killeen Civic center may 20. This was the first time in over 2 years the COSCOM has hosted the ball due to deployments to Iraq.
