13th Corps Support Comamand's, 64th Corps Support Group held it's casing ceremony at Guidon Field Monday signifying the unit's deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"Traditionally in history colors have been used in combat to signify where a unit is on the battlefield, "said Col. Cassandra V. Roberts, 64th CSG commander.

"The colors are still significant and as we close our garrison operations here and deploy, it signifies not only to our soldiers but also to everybody here on this installation that 64th CSG headquarters is leaving and going to war," added Roberts.

"We're as ready as we'll ever be," said Command Sgt. Maj., Michael L. Patterson, 64th CSG command sergeant major.

As they go on to war, confidence in what they do needs to be at its highest, said Patterson.

64th CSG is no stranger to the on going operations in Iraq and it's no surprise they are fully prepared for their upcoming tasks and missions in Iraq.

"50 percent of the 64th is deployed at any given time," said Roberts.

"We are going to provide support for anyone in our sector, and I'm looking forward to it," she said.

64th CSG is currently one of the most deployed units collectively at Fort Hood and is once again answering the call to provide general, direct, and logistical support to 2nd brigade, 4th Infantry Division and the Marine Expeditionary Force and Air Wing, said Roberts.

"Deployments are about soldiers and we have great soldiers. So there is nothing for me to worry about," Roberts said, when asked if she felt the unit was ready for another deployment.

"I have 2 missions, have my Soldiers arrive in Iraq safely and return home safely, everything in between I do not worry about, because the soldiers are going to make it happen. They're good hardworking professionals and they are going to do a good job, so I don't worry about that," she said.

As the 64th CSG Headquarters and 180th Transportation battalion move onward to Iraq with its colors cased, Roberts has a goal in mind, to return home safely with her Soldiers.
