The 582nd Medical Logistics Company, 21st Combat Support Hospital, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Corps Support Command, held an activation ceremony at Guidon Field October 19.

1st Sgt. Joseph L. Cecil, the first sergeant of the 582nd, is on his third stint as a first sergeant, and his second stint as a first sergeant of a newly activated company.
"To take something from nothing and prepare a company full of young Soldiers for deployment.there's nothing like it," said Cecil.
Cecil continued," I have a very young company overall, and as an NCO, that's what we do. Prepare young Soldiers for what they need to do."
"We started from scratch, and soon we will deploy as a team to fight the war on terrorism," said Cecil.
Maj. Barbara J. Bachman, rear detachment commander of the 21st CSH, stood in as commander of the 582nd for the ceremony.
"We have high expectations for the 582nd, you look great!" said Bachman.
The 582nd was previously active from 1943 until 1973.
