The Special Troops Battalion Enlisted Team won an exciting game against the Officers 35-20 in the second of two 13th COSCOM Turkey Bowl flag football games held Nov. 23 at Hood Stadium.
The Officers' quarterback Todd Heussner had a very impressive day, throwing for 238 yards with two touchdown passes.
Heussner also ran in a TD on an 8-yard scramble and ran in a 2-point conversion.
Heussner hit Officers' wide receiver, Craig Schapira, for a ridiculous 60-yard touchdown pass.
With numbers like these it's safe to say Heussner had a good day.
Enlisted linebacker Melvin Watson had a better day. Watson batted down 6 passes and intercepted two more.
Watson's second pick resulted in a 40-yard run back for a score.
The Enlisted Team used two quarterbacks, Kenneth Sims and Jomo Washington, who combined for 258 passing yards, one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns.
Enlisted running back, Charles Cook caught five passes for 88 yards and threw a 12-yard pass to Washington on an option play.
The Officers top receiver, Thomas Smith, caught 6 passes for 82 yards and one touchdown.
One player who always seemed to get open for big plays but couldn't find the endzone was Enlisted wide receiver Roderick Batiste.
Batsiste racked up 86 receiving yards on just three catches.
The Enlisted defense didn't just terrorize the Officers' receivers, defensive end Ernestor Cortez had two drive-killing sacks on Heussner in the 4th quarter.
