Members of the 1st Medical Brigade joined together for a formal dinner at the Phantom Warrior Center for the unit Dining-Out June 8th
The Dining-Out is a relatively new custom to the Army but unlike the Dining-In, Soldiers can include their spouses or guest in the festivities. This not only gives the Soldiers a chance to build morale and Esprit de Corps among themselves but give family members and guests an opportunity to be apart of the Army’s newest tradition.
The night was set to begin as music filled the air and Soldiers gathered in front and throughout the Phantom Warrior Center in small groups to inspect each other uniforms one last time before heading into the reception area for the Cocktail Hour.
As Col. James Rice, CSM Kevin Stuart, and the rest of the Official Party formed up and got ready to greet the attendees in the receiving line, the Dining-Out was set to begin.
With the Official Party seated at the head table, a tribute to our Fallen Comrades, the Grog ceremony and dinner completed, Col. James Rice gave his final remarks.
Rice expressed thanks to all the Soldiers of the 1st Medical Brigade for making the Dining-Out a tremendous success.
“I would like to thank everybody involved in getting this together” Rice continued, “It’s rare that we get a chance to get the whole Brigade together along with our families”.
Rice continued his remarks by commending the unit for their continuous effort in fighting for freedom throughout their deployments.
“All the units have deployed at least once and we still have soldiers volunteering to do the heavy lifting” Rice continued, “You do a remarkable job everyday”.
The night came to a close with units of the 1st Medical Brigade demonstrating their acting abilities as they spoofed members of their Command team, which included the Brigade Commander, Command Sergeant Major, Company Commander’s and 1st Sgt’s.
