| In May 2002, the Detachment travelled across the northern border into Canada and met our Canadian equivalents. The Strathcona Mounted Troop is "the only regular force cavalry unit in the Canadian Army." It's "sole purpose is to keep the cavalry traditions and spirit of Western Canada alive." We were glad to spend a few days sharing stories and lessons learned with our northern allies. The Troop is a "volunteer display unit" consisting of 20 mounts and 25 men.
