Lieutenant Colonel Brian Hammer

     Lieutenant Colonel Brian Hammer was born in San Tome, Venezuela in 1967. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Engineering Technology and receiving his commission as a Field Artillery Officer. He entered Active Federal Service in Oct of 1991 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
     Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Basic course, he served as a Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader in 1st Squadron 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fulda, Germany. Upon inactivation of the Regiment, he served as Platoon Leader in 4th Battalion 29th Field Artillery in Baumholder, Germany. After the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, he taught cannon gunnery at the Field Artillery School. After serving as the Battalion Adjutant, he commanded Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery in the 214th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In June of 2003, he returned to Germany to serve as the Secretary of the General Staff for the 1st Infantry Division, where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Once deployed, he assumed duties as the Fire Support Officer in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Dukes of Diyala” of the 1st Infantry Division in Baqubah, Iraq. Upon redeployment, he served as Battalion Operations Officer, Executive Officer and acting Commander of 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery, where he oversaw the casing of the colors during the 3rd Brigade inactivation and return to the United States. His latest assignment has been as an Observer/Controller/Trainer at the Joint Multi-National Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, where he served as the Brigade Fire Support Trainer, Brigade Operations Officer Trainer and Chief of Plans.
     LTC Hammer’s military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, US Army Airborne School, US Army Air Assault School, the Combined Arms Staff Service School, Operations Research System Analysis-Military Applications Course (ORSA-MAC) and the Command and General Staff College.
     His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Overseas Ribbon (3), Airborne Badge and Air Assault Badge. LTC Hammer has been married to his wife Jennifer (Court) of Stafford, TX for 17 years. They have four children, Charlotte , William, Kevin and Lucy.
