COL DAVID C. HILL

36th Engineer Commanding Officer

COL Dave Hill was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in May 1990 and stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his tour of duty at Fort Bragg, COL Hill served as a Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in the 37th Engineer Battalion, including service in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and as the Aide de Camp for the Deputy Commanding General of the Joint Special Operations Command. After the Engineer Officer Advanced Course, COL Hill served with the 1st Armored Division (AD) in Germany and Bosnia as an Engineer Staff Officer and then Company Commander in the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st AD. After Company Command, COL Hill served as an Observer Controller at the National Training Center.

After graduating from the US Army’s Command and General Staff College, COL Hill served in several command and staff positions at Fort Hood, Texas and completed three, one year deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) with the 4th Infantry Division (ID). During OIF I, he served as the Battalion S3 and then Battalion Executive Officer for the 299th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th ID. He then served as the Chief of Training for the 4th ID as the Division reorganized and retrained in preparation for another deployment. During OIF 05-07, he served as the Chief of Operations for the 4th ID and Multi-National Division Baghdad. Finally, during OIF 07-09, he commanded the 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division.

After battalion command, COL Hill served as a Human Resource Manager in the US Army’s Senior Leader Development Office, Office of the Chief of Staff, Army, before attending the National War College at Fort McNair, Washington, DC.

COL Hill earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy, a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the National War College.

COL Hill’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary and Service Medals, Iraq and Southwest Asia Campaign Medals, NATO Medal, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Liberation Medals, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Army Staff Badge.

CSM GEOFFREY S. HARRIS

36th Engineer Commanding Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Geoffrey Harris is a native of Deland, Florida. He enlisted in the Army in September 1981 and attended Combat Engineer One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard wood, Missouri.

CSM Harris has served in a variety of leadership and staff positions from Team leader to Command Sergeant Major. Previous assignments include Team Leader, 82nd Engineer Battalion, Bamberg, Germany; Team leader and Squad Leader, A Co, 3rd Engineer Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia. CSM Harris was selected to perform duties as a detailed Recruiter, Jacksonville, Florida Recruiting Battalion with duty in Leesburg, Florida culminating as the Recruiting Station Commander, Maitland, Florida. After attending Advanced NCOES schooling CSM Harris was assigned as a Platoon Sergeant, 7th Engineer Battalion, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Platoon Sergeant, 17th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; Operations Sergeant, A Co, 2nd Engineer Battalion Camp Castle, Korea; Battalion Operations Sergeant, 91st Engineer Battalion Fort Hood, Texas; Brigade Operations Sergeant, Engineer Brigade Fort, Hood Texas; NCOIC, Multi National Division (MND) North Mine Action Center (MAC), Tuzla, Bosnia; First Sergeant, B Co, 8th Engineer Battalion Fort Hood, Texas; First Sergeant, C Co, 44th Engineer Battalion Camp Howze, Korea; First Sergeant, C Co, 8th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; First Sergeant, HHC, 8th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; Operations Sergeant Major, Gulf Region Division, Corps of Engineers, Baghdad, Iraq; CSM, 8th Engineer Battalion which reflagged in 2005 as 3rd BSTB, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cav Div, Fort Hood, Texas, and Rear Detachment Sergeant Major, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cav Div, Fort Hood, Texas. CSM Harris recently concluded 38 months (to include 15 months deployed to Afghanistan) as the CSM, 62nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Harris has attended all levels of NCOES to include, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, First Sergeant Course and the United Stated Army Sergeants Major Academy.

CSM Harris’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), The Army Commendation Medal (6th Oak Leaf Cluster), The Army Achievement Medal (5th Oak Leaf Cluster), The Army Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), The National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Drivers Badge, Gold Army Recruiting Badge with 3 Sapphire Stars and the Army Combat Action Badge. CSM Harris is also the recipient of the Engineer Bronze DeFleury Medal.
