Command Sergeant Major Preusser

Command Sergeant Major Robert M. Preusser Jr. was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on 5 September 1975. CSM Preusser graduated Belton High School in 1994 and joined the United States Army in May 1995, as an Infantryman (11B). He attended One Station Unit Training in C Co. 1-38th Infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia.

CSM Preusser’s first assignment was to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry (MECH), 1st Cavalry Division. CSM Preusser’s other assignments include E Co. 52nd Infantry (ABN) (LRSC), Ft. Hood, TX; 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division(LI), Schofield Barracks, HI; 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment and 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry (RSTA), 10th Mountain Division (LI), Ft. Drum, NY; HHC, 120th Infantry Brigade (AC/RC) at Ft. Hood, TX; US Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; 1st Battalion, 24 Infantry, Brigade Troops Battalion, and HHC BDE, 1/25th SBCT at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He currently serves as the Squadron Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment (Stryker) and Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Preusser has held nearly every duty position an Infantryman can hold; Rifleman, SAW Gunner, Grenadier, Assistant Gunner, Gunner, LRSC RTO, Scout, Senior Scout, Assistant Team Leader, Team Lead, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Operation Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Preusser’s military and civilian education include the EO Leaders Course, Hazmat Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, First Sergeants Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course (SEJPME), and the US Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 63. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science-Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University.

CSM Preusser’s Deployments include Operation Intrinsic Action / Desert Strike-Kuwait from Aug 1996 to Dec 1996, Operation Noble Eagle/Joint Endeavor-Bosnia from Sep 2001 to Mar 2002, Operation Enduring Freedom- Kandahar, Afghanistan from Jul 2003 to May 2004, Operation Iraqi Freedom Baghdad, Iraq from Aug 2005 to Jul 2006 and Operation Iraqi Freedom Tikrit, Iraq from Sep 2007 to Oct 2008

CSM Preusser’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal w/ 2 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 3 OLC, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/ 4OLC, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal w/ 3 OLC, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal 2nd Award, Iraqi Campaign Medal w/ 3 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon w/ Numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ Numeral 5, NATO Medal for Former Yugoslavia, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation w/ 1 OLC, the Army Superior Unit Award, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Parachutist's Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Centurion Level of the Order of Saint Maurice awarded by the National Infantry Association.
