1SG Rivas


First Sergeant Guillermo M. Rivas hails from Ogallala Nebraska. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended Boot Camp at Camp Pendleton, California, in September 1988. First Sergeant Rivas joined the Army in 1994 and has served in the Army over 19 years in various Infantry and Cavalry assignments throughout the United States and overseas, to include A Co 2-87 IN (Fort Drum, NY) , A Co 2-1 IN (Fort Wainwright, AK), F Co, 1-28 IN (Fort Jackson, SC), H Trp 2-11 ACR (Fort Irwin, CA), University of Nebraska ROTC (Big Red Battalion), Embedded Transition Team, FOB Justice (Iraq), B Trp 1-11 ACR (Fort Irwin, CA) and H Trp 3/3 CR, he is currently the RHHT 3d CR 1SG.


He has held leadership positions as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, WPNS Squad Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Embedded Transition Team NCOIC (Iraq) and Troop First Sergeant.


His military schooling includes PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Combat Life Saver Course, Total Army Instructor Course, Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant School, Transition Team Training. His awards and decorations include the following: One Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leafs, the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leafs, the Army Achievement Medal with four oak leafs, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal with one silver oak leaf and one bronze oak leaf, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with bronze star device, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with one oak leaf, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with bronze star device, the Iraq Campaign Medal with one oak leaf, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon with number 3, the Army Service Medal, the Overseas Ribbon with number two, the Navy Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Multinational Force and Observers Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge.


First Sergeant Rivas is married to the former Donnajayne Goodfellow from Edinburgh Scotland, and they have two children Nathan, and Chayanne.
