Command Sergeant Major James C. Walker


Command Sergeant Major James C. Walker is a native of Queens N.Y. He joined the Army in July 1989, and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

His assignments include 1-72 Armor Battalion, Second Infantry Division, Camp Casey Korea, 3-67 Armor Battalion, Second Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas and deployed to Iraq, (Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield), 3-67 Armor Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, and deployed to Iraq, (Operation Intrinsic Action), and (Irish Gold), 2-69 Armor Battalion, Third Infantry Division, Fort Benning Georgia, and deployed to Kuwait, (Operation Intrinsic Action II), HHC 1st Armored Division, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, and deployed to Bosnia Herzegovina, (Operation Joint Guard), 2-12 CAV, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, 1st Armor Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington, 4th Stryker Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington, and deployed to Iraq, (Operation Iraqi Freedom), 7-10 CAV, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, HHD 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division Fort Carson, Colorado, and deployed to Afghanistan, (Operation Enduring Freedom), 1-68 Armor 3rd BDE 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

CSM Walker has served in numerous positions throughout his career which include M1A1 Tank Loader, Driver, Gunner, Tank Commander, Division Safety NCO, Chief Instructor Writer, and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major. His leadership positions include Platoon Sergeant (24 Months), First Sergeant (52 Months) Command Sergeant Major (34 Months).

Command Sergeant Major Walker’s Schools include Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non Commissioned Officers Course, Sergeants Course, Basic Instructors Course, M1A2 Tank Commanders Course, Ground Safety Management Course, Equal Opportunity Management Course, and Career Counselor Course. CSM Walker is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 59. CSM Walker has an Associate Degree from Central Texas College and currently finishing his Bachelor’s Degree from the Texas A&M University of Central Texas.
