LTC Mike James


Lt. Col. Mike James is a resident of Fairfield, Texas. 


Lt. Col.  James graduated from Texas A & M University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Armor Branch. 

His first assignment was with 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry in Camp Garry Owen, Korea where he served as a troop executive officer. Following Korea he served with 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry in Ft. Hood, Texas where he deployed to Kuwait as a scout platoon leader. Following their return he served as the support platoon leader.

After graduation from the Armor Captains Career Course, he was assigned to 7th Army Training Command as an operations officer in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Subsequently he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 63d Armor in the 1st Infantry Division in Vilseck, Germany where he served as the Battalion’s logistics officer, Company A commander in Kosovo and the Headquarters Company commander in Iraq. After Command he served as the 3d Brigade’s logistics officer and operations officer. Following the Division’s return to Ft. Riley, Kansas, he served as the Secretary of the General Staff and 1st Battalion, 63d Armor’s operations officer.

His next assignment was attendance at the Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Upon graduation he was assigned to the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, where he served as the squadron operations officer for 3d Squadron during the Regiment’s deployment to Iraq.

Following redeployment, Lt. Col. James was assigned to III Corps in Ft. Hood, TX as the TAC Chief of Operations and later served as the G-3 Executive Officer.
