CPT Bowman

Captain Nicholas R. Bowman hails from the State of Ohio. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Otterbein College, Columbus, Ohio.

Captain Bowman’s previous assignments include: Assistant Operations Officer (S-3), 4-5 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; Aide-de-Camp, 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC), Fort Shafter, Hawaii; Battery Trainer and Platoon Leader, Bravo Battery, 2-43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Bliss, Texas and Operation Enduring Freedom, Qatar.

Captain Bowman’s military education includes: Army Patriot Top Gun Course, Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course, Army Space Basic Course, Air Defense Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course III, and Basic Officer Leadership Course II.

Captain Bowman’s decorations and awards include the Army Commendation Medal (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon.

1SG Ortega

Battalion Commander First Sergeant Michael A. Ortega hails from Alamogordo, New Mexico. He enlisted in the US Army on 3 October 2001. He attended basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and continued his Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, Texas where he held the MOS of PATRIOT Enhanced Operator/Maintainer 14T.

1SG Ortega’s assignments include: Launcher Crew Member 3rd Battalion 43rd Air Defense Artillery, Command Group NCO 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, Launcher Section Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, Launcher Section Chief, 1st Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, Launcher Section Sergeant, 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery, Small Group leader Instructor, Fort Bliss Warrior Leaders Course, and Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Senior Small Group Leader Instructor of Advanced Leaders Course, Launcher and Fire Control Platoon Sergeant, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery, Patriot Battery First Sergeant, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery, Master Evaluator, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery, and now serves as the Charlie Battery First Sergeant,4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery .

1SG Ortega’s military and civilian education includes Primary Leadership Development Course (Commandant Leadership Award), Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Senior Leaders Course (Honor Graduate, Leadership Award), Patriot Master Gunner Course (Honor Graduate), Instructor Training Course, Small Group Instructor Course, Retention Course, and Airborne Course. He has an Associates Certificate for Micro-computer Technology and is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering.

1SG Ortega’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (13 OLC), Army Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Drivers Badge, German Schutzenschnur-Gold. He was inducted into the Order of Saint Barbra and the elite Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. In addition, he earned the titles including 32nd AAMDC NCO of the year FY 04, and the 11th BDE NCO of the year FY 05.
