324th, Network Support Company History


The 324th Signal Network Support Company was constituted on 6 January 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 324th Signal Company Wing and was activated on 10 January 1943 at Camp Pinedale, California.

During World War II the company fought in Rome-Arno and through Rhineland. The company was inactivated 14 November 1945 at Camp Pinedale, California. In August 1966 the company was redesignated as the 324th Signal Company and allotted to the Regular Army. The company was later activated on 24 December 1966 at Fort Hood, Texas.

During Vietnam the unit fought during Phases III through VI of the Counteroffensive and in the Tet and Tet 69 Counteroffensives. The 324th Signal Company was inactivated 15 November 1969 in Vietnam.

The 324th Signal Company was activated 30 June 1971 in Thailand for participation in the Southwest Asia Campaign. The unit fought through the Defense of Saudi Arabia, Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, and Cease-Fire. The company was inactivated 1 January 1972 in Thailand.

On 1 June 1974 the 324th Signal Company was activated in Germany and inactivated on 15 January 2003. The 324th Signal Company was reborn on 16 December 2004 at Fort Hood, Texas. The 324th Signal Network Support Company’s nickname is the “PHOENIX.”

The 324th Signal Network Support Company has been awarded the following decorations: The Meritorious Unit Commendation; Streamer embroidered EUROPEAN THEATER, Meritorious Unit Commendation; Streamer embroidered VIETNAM 1967-1968; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Streamer embroidered IRAQ 2005-2006.
