COMMANDER

LTC STEPHEN RILEY

Lieutenant Colonel Stephen J. Riley was born March 21, 1969 in Alexandria, VA. He is a 1991 distinguished military graduate from Siena College in Loudonville, NY, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He has two master’s degrees, a Master of Science in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

 

LTC Riley began his military career in 1991 as a rifle platoon leader in the 3/47th Infantry Battalion, Fort Lewis, WA. In 1993 he was assigned to Fort Polk, LA, where he served as a rifle and support platoon leader in the 1/509th Parachute Infantry Regiment (OPFOR) at the Joint Readiness Training Center. After departing Fort Polk in 1995, LTC Riley was assigned to the Military Ocean Terminal, Bayonne, NJ, where he served as the Senior Terminal Operations Officer and Secretary of the General Staff for the Military Traffic Management Command, Eastern Area. In 1997, LTC Riley was assigned to Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he served as an Operations Officer and Company Commander in the 37th TRANSCOM. After departing Germany in 2000, LTC Riley was the first Army Officer selected to attend the Air Force’s Advanced Study of Air Mobility, where he earned a master’s degree in Logistics Management. Upon graduation, LTC Riley was assigned to the Military Traffic Management Command Operations Center, Fort Eustis, VA. In 2003, he joined the 6th Transportation Battalion and served as the Operations and Executive Officer through two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2005-2007, LTC Riley served as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, US Army Transportation Center and School. In 2007, he attended the College of Naval Command and Staff at the Naval War College, Newport, RI. Following graduation he stayed in Newport as the Senior Army Advisor to the Commander, Navy Warfare Development Command and later was assigned as a Military Professor at the Naval War College.

 

LTC Riley’s military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Advanced Study of Air Mobility, and the College of Naval Command and Staff. He has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Airborne Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

 

LTC Riley is married to the former Becky Biskupick of Greenville, NY. They have three children, Abigail, 19, Katie, 17, and Jack 15.
