Transportation Corps and buff alludes to the
49th Quartermaster Truck Regiment from which the
unit is descended. The Quartermaster truck
indicates the trucks’ ability to perform
allotted duties at all four points of the
compass. The color red is added for design and
denotes the martial prowess of the organization.

approved for the 49th Quartermaster Truck
Regiment on 27 Jan 1943. It was redesignated for
the 49th Quartermaster Battalion, Mobile on 15
Apr 1944. The insignia was redesignated and
amended to change the blazon and symbolism for
the 49th Transportation Center on 31 Jan 1968.
On 1 Sep 1999, the distinctive unit insignia was
redesignated for the 49th Transportation
