CSM Brian S. Shrout

CSM Brian S. Shrout is a native of Mount Hope, WV. CSM Shrout entered the military service in December 1986 in the WV Army Nation Guard as a 19E (M60A3 Tanker). CSM Shrout switched to active duty in March 1990 as a 98J Non-Communications Interceptor Analyst.

Throughout his career, he has served as every level of NCO leadership position through First Sergeant and most recently the 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade S3 Operations Sergeant Major.

CSM Shrout attended Basic Training and 19E Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox, KY and 98J AIT at Fort Devons, MA.

His assignments include C Troop, 150th Armored CAV, WVANG from Dec 86 to Feb 90; US Army Field Station SINOP in SINOP Turkey from Nov 90 through Dec 91; 101st MI Bn at Fort Riley, KS from Jan 92 through Oct 93; 743d MI Bn, Fort Meade, MD from Oct 93 through Dec 95; DIEGO GARCIA detachment, British Indian Ocean Territory from Dec 95 through Jun 97; 525th MI Bde (BfSB) Fort Bragg, NC from Jul 97 through Sep 2003; 743d MI Bn, Aurora, CO Sep 2003 through Jul 2006; 3BCT, 82d ABD, Fort Bragg NC Jul 2006 through Aug 2007; USASMA, Fort Bliss, TX Aug 2007 through May 2008; 504th BfSB Jun 2008 until present.

Deployments include ACE NCOIC, Bosnia-Herzegovina Sep 2001 through May 2002; Collection Management and Dissemination NCOIC Combined Joint Task Force 180 Afghanistan Nov 2002 through April 2003; S2 NCOIC, 3/82nd Iraq Nov 2006 through May 2007; S3 Ops SGM, 504th BfSB, Iraq Nov 2008 through Nov 2009.

Military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course, USA Sergeants Major Course, CSM Development Program Course, Air Assault, Basic Airborne Course, Space Collection Operations, and the TENCAP Data Analyst Course.

Awards and decorations include Bronze Start Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Joint Military Unit Award (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal (1 OLC), and a recipient of the Knowlton Award.

CSM Shrout and his wife Lisa have a 20 year old daughter named Brittany attending nursing school in WV, a 20 year old son attending technical college in NC, and a 19 year old son who resides in NC, also two adult stepsons, Daniel and Billy Joe.
