"Always In Front!"

2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry is a multi-functional reconnaissance and surveillance (R&S) unit designed to facilitate intelligence collection efforts of the 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BFSB).

Based out of Robert Gray Army Airfield at West Fort Hood, Texas, the organization consists of cavalry troopers that hail from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines to include: 19D scouts; 11B airborne infantry long range surveillance scouts; 13F forward observers and Joint fire controllers, 25U signal and satellite experts, and a host of other military occupational skill-set experts who enable the unit’s operations.

2-38 also employs Military Intelligence (MI) Multi-Functional Teams (MFT) capable of exploiting captured enemy material and conducting Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operations and Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) terminal guidance.
The diverse and specialized backgrounds of 2-38 troopers enable them to operate across land, sea, or air to track targets from positions deep behind enemy lines. The unit can likewise reinforce the intelligence gathering efforts of other units inside of their areas of operation.
