Lieutenant Colonel Brett Gordon was born in Fort Wainwright, Alaska in 1967 and grew up in Killeen, Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University, earning a degree in Criminal Justice and received his commission as a Quartermaster Officer. He entered Active Federal Service in May of 1993 at Fort Lee, Virginia
Upon completion of the Quartermaster Officer Basic course, he served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for HQ/A Co. 225th Forward Support Battalion, 25th ID (L), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In 1994 he deployed to Haiti as a Tech Supply Officer in support of Operation Uphold Democracy. In 1995 he was assigned to the US Army Central Identification Laboratory, Hickam AFB as a MIA/POW Search and Recovery Team Commander conducting recovery operations in Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. After graduating the Combined Logistics Advanced Course, he served as Supply and Service Officer, 101st Corps Support Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Battalion S3 for the 129th Corps Support Battalion followed by command of the 196th Quartermaster Company. He subsequently assumed command of the Alaska Recruiting Company, Fort Richardson, Alaska. Upon graduation of the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, he served as the G4 Planner of the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; In June of 2004, he was assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team as the Support Operations Officer where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). During the deployment he was subsequently assigned as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team. Upon redeployment, he served as the 4th Sustainment Brigade Chief of Plans. Subsequent assignments include Senior Logistics Observer/Trainer – Battle Command Training Program, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Command and General Staff College Instructor at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
His military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Staff Service School, and the Command and General Staff College. His civilian education includes a BS in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 Awards), the Iraqi Campaign Medal; Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Overseas Ribbon (3 Awards), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Rigger Badge and Recruiting Badge.
