Newcomers
Welcome to Fort Hood - The Air Force's best kept secret.
There are many things that make being on an Army
base very benefiting. Whether you are coming from technical
school or another duty station, you will be surprised with
the environment of this duty station. We are uniquely
stationed with the Army and there are only a few hundred Air
Force personnel stationed here. Take note that while you are
here you will learn many things that do and do not pertain
to your career field but are priceless to receive. We are
tactical combat/communications airmen and we are constantly
training and preparing ourselves for future missions. Once you arrive here you will realize that this
assignment is very different from that of anywhere else, but
you will leave here with a feeling of accomplishment and an
expanded spectrum of knowledge. For more information
on your PCS here, please view our
PCS power point slide.

Off Base Housing
A wide range of housing is available in the local
area of Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove.
Typically SrA and above are permitted to move off base
while A1C and below are placed on a waiting list.
We recommend doing research ahead of time on where you
would like to reside due to the number of Soldiers
stationed here. You also have the option of living a
little farther from base in areas such as Temple (about
30 minutes away). Please take into consideration
traffic and distance to and from the squadron. |

Physical Training
Here at Fort Hood we are considered Combat Airmen.
Our PT is generally a more strenuous routine than that of a
typical Air Force unit due to our location and combat
readiness requirements. A regular 5 day week of PT
may consist of heavy calisthenics, 1.5 to 3 mile runs,
and/or casual sports. We also receive quarterly
mock PT tests. |
