Command Welcome Letter

I would like to welcome you and your family to the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade. This is a very exciting time for us because we are the first Civil Affairs Brigade on Fort Hood, located in the center of Texas. If you are new or returning to Fort Hood after a stateside or overseas tour, you will be happy to find many pleasant changes and attractions.

Throughout the process of accession into Fort Hood, you will receive assistance from a wide variety of sources. The first and foremost is your sponsor; an individual selected and trained to answer your questions and assist you as you integrate into our community. Additionally, your chain of command and various support agencies stand ready to assist you and your family if needed.

The 85th Civil Affairs Brigade will eventually consist of five battalions: As a member you will have the chance to work in and see some of the most exciting places in the world. You will find that the brigade intends on conducting tough and realistic training that focuses on language, technical, physical and mental skills. We will stand ready to deploy in support of the War on Terror.

Your time in our brigade will also afford you numerous opportunities to experience and enjoy all that the Civil Affairs Branch and the United States Army has to offer. Your experience, training and other talents will make you an integral member of the combat capability of our team and your contribution will enable the continued success of our unit and our Army.
