Army Wellness Center


The Ft Hood Army Wellness Center (AWC) is part of the Army’s health promotion and wellness initiative, offering primary prevention services to our Ft Hood Community. Our focus is to help our clients identify health risks as well as prevent the development or progression of chronic diseases or injury. Eligible beneficiaries include active duty and retired military personnel and their dependents, as well as DoD Civilians.

AWC provides six core programs, standardized among all AWCs in CONUS and OCONUS. Our programs, delivered by our nurse and health educators, consist of a Health Assessment Review, Physical Fitness Testing and Exercise Prescription, Nutrition Education, Stress Management, General Wellness Education, and Tobacco Education. You may participate in one or more of our programs. The AWC staff is ready and willing to assist you in meeting your health and wellness goals.

Examples of our services include:

  • Health Assessment Questionnaire and Review (i.e. Personal health history, Health risk stratification, Perceived stress scale, etc.)
  • Body Composition
  • Cardiorespiratory Fitness Assessment (Submaximal VO2Max testing)
  • Strength and Flexibility Assessment
  • Exercise plans tailored to meet your goals
  • Metabolic Analysis (measurement of Resting Metabolic Rate) to assist in the determination of daily caloric needs
  • Healthy Nutrition / Upping Your Metabolism class
  • Biofeedback
  • Stress Management class
  • Healthy Sleep Habits Class




  • Appointments: Eligible beneficiaries may self-refer (walk-in or call to schedule an appointment during business hours) or be referred to the AWC by their primary healthcare provider.
