Command Sergeant Major Scott Bailey entered the U.S. Army on 22 February 1989. He attended Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Upon completion of training he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 68G, Aircraft Structural Repairer.

His past assignments include the 331st Transportation Battalion, Fort Story, Virginia (Hovercraft); 4-501st Aviation Regiment, Camp Page, Korea (AH-1H, Cobra); 571st MEDEVAC, Fort Carson, Colorado (UH-1H, Hueys); 7-101st Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky (CH-47, Chinook); 52nd Aviation, Camp Eagle, Korea (AH-64); HHC/52nd Aviation, Camp Humphreys, Korea; 3rd Staff and Faculty, Fort Eustis, Virginia; NCO Academy, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Echo, Charlie, and Headquarters Companies, 5-158th Aviation, Giebelstadt, Germany (UH60, Blackhawk); Echo and Headquarters Companies, 3-4 Air Assault Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas (UH-60), 1-291st Aviation Battalion Attack, Fort Hood, Texas, 6-17th Calvary Regiment Fort Wainwright, Alaska (Kiowa) and 1-52 Aviation Battalion (GSAB) Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Command Sergeant Major Bailey has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 01 Objective Rams and Balad, Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-06 Camp Taji, Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-09 Mosul and as Task Force Denali CSM, Pakistan.

Command Sergeant Major Bailey has held significant duty positions from Squad Leader to Command Sergeant Major including Production Control NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, NCO Academy Aviation Branch Chief, and First Sergeant.  His military and civilian schools include Aircraft Structure Repairer AIT, EO Leader’s Course, Basic Instructor’s Course, Air Assault, Emergency Medical Technician, NBC Officer Course, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, First Sergeant Course, and the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy. CSM Bailey has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.   

His awards include the Bronze Star (2), Meritorious Service Medal (5), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (4), Army Good Conduct Medal (8), National Defense Service Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (7), Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Master Aviation Badge.
