BRIGADIER GENERAL DOMINIC A. CARIELLO

Brigadier General Cariello enlisted as a member of the1-339 Armor Brigade of the 84th Division Reserves in January 1981 in the delayed entry program.  After graduating High School he attended Basic Combat Training and was awarded the Armor Crewman Military Occupational Specialty (MOS 19E) and the General George S. Patton Outstanding Tanker Award at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  During the two years he was in the 84th Division he was assigned as a Tank Commander, certified as a Drill Sergeant and received the 84th Division Outstanding Soldier of the Year award.  In 1982 he transferred to the Wisconsin Army National Guard to attend the Wisconsin Military Academy.  He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in August 1983.

Brigadier General Cariello is the recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Outstanding Leadership Award of his Officer Candidate School Class, a graduate on the Commandants List of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, a graduate on the Commandants list of the Field Artillery Officer Advance Course, a graduate of the Combined Arms Services Staff School, a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, and a graduate of the United States Army War College Class of 2006.   He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Strategic Studies Degree.

His initial assignment in August 1983 was with Battery C, 1st Battalion 126th Field Artillery in Racine, Wisconsin as the Executive Officer.  In October 1988 he was assigned as the Service Battery Commander & Battalion S4 of the 1st Battalion 126th Field Artillery in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  In August of 1989 he was assigned as the Commander of Battery A, 1st Battalion 126th Field Artillery in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.  In February 1992 he was assigned as the Assistant S3 of the 1st Battalion 126th Field Artillery in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  He was transferred to the 57th Field Artillery Brigade in August of 1992 as the Brigade Fire Control Officer.  In July of 1994 he was assigned as the 57th Field Artillery Brigade Operations Officer. In October of 1995 he was reassigned to the 1st battalion 126th Field Artillery as the Battalion S3. 

In July of 1997 he was assigned as the Battalion Executive Officer of the 1st battalion 126th Field Artillery.  In July of 2000 he assumed command of the 1st Battalion 126th Field Artillery.  In October of 2002 he was assigned as the S3 of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade and in April of 2003 he was reassigned as the Brigade Executive Officer.  BG Cariello Assumed Command of the 57th Filed Artillery Brigade on November 4th, 2004.  BG Cariello was assigned as the TF Wisconsin Commander for the Katrina disaster on August 31, 2005.   On December 3, 2005 he was assigned as the TF Wisconsin Forward 23 ETT Commander for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and deployed from January 5, 2006 until February 24, 2007.   On February 25, 2007 he resumed command of the 57th Field Artillery Brigade and processed the transformation of the Brigade to the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB).  On February 3, 2008 he came out of command of the 157th MEB and was assigned as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Training and Mobilization at the Joint Force Headquarters Wisconsin Army National Guard.  In October of 2008 BG Cariello was reassigned as the Assistant Adjutant General of the Wisconsin Army National Guard.  In November of 2009 BG Cariello was dual hat assigned as the Deputy Commanding General First Army Division West. 

Brigadier General Cariello’s decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, The Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Humanitarian Assistance Medal, the Afghan Campaign Medal with two stars, the NATO Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the National Defense Service Medal.
