Fort Hood’s air quality program ensures that the installation’s air emission sources comply with all applicable federal, state, and local air regulations. Fort Hood lies in both Bell and Coryell Counties which are currently classified as "attainment" areas. This means that Bell and Coryell counties meet or exceed ambient air quality standards. However, in 1999, ninety-five counties in eastern and central Texas, including Bell and Coryell counties were redesignated "covered attainment" by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Visit the TCEQ website 30 TAC Chapter 114 subchapter H Division 2 and 30 TAC Chapter 115, subchapter C for more details.

Fort Hood is regulated by provisions of the Clean Air Act and Clean Air Act Amendments as implemented by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) air pollution control program. The Clean Air Act standards are also implemented into Army Regulation 200-1 and Fort Hood Regulation 200-1. Fort Hood falls under the jurisdiction of the air programs administered by EPA Region 6 (Dallas) and TCEQ Region 9 (Waco).
