Lock and Key Replacement

The Main Support Command (MSC) Hand Receipt Holder is authorized to request duplication of keys, re-keys, and turn in of keys. The Hand Receipt Holder can delegate to a Signature Card Holder the same responsibilities on a DA Form 1687 (signing for facilities is exempt). Real Property will only be able to provide key service to customers whose hand receipts are in current status.

Broken Keys
When a key breaks in the customer’s possession, the top portion of the key can be taken directly to the Lock Shop, bldg 4208, located on 77th Street. A locksmith will exchange (or make) a new key in replacement for the top portion of the broken key.

For Keys that are jammed or broken in a lock, please call Work Reception at 254-287-2113 for service.

Additional Keys
A request can be made via email to a Real Property Representative, Formal Memorandum, or by hand written Internal Real Property Key Request. The information required on the request is as follows:
  1. Building Number
  2. Room Number
  3. Quantity
  4. Reason (if quantity is over 4)
  5. Contact Information
    1. Name
    2. Phone Number
    3. Unit
Replacement Keys
Real Property is not responsible for replacement of key(s) that has been lost or stolen due to negligence. All keys are signed for through Real Property and the Hand Receipt Holder must maintain 100% accountability. The monetary amount for keys and rekeys are based upon the current market rate. To ensure correct amount is being charged, please contact the Real Property Representative at 254-287-2801.

Military
Steps are as follows:
  1. DD Form 362, Statement of Charges, is required for a replacement key.
  2. Statement of Charges must state the building number, room number and quantity of keys the customer is requesting. A valid telephone number is also required.
  3. The Statement of Charges must be processed through the MSC servicing finance office for payment.
  4. A completed and stamped copy of the DD Form 362 will be brought to Real Property for processing.
Processing time for key requests generally is 1-5 business days. Hand Receipt Holders and Signature Card Holders are the only personnel authorized to pick up and request keys.

DA Civilians/Contractors
Steps are as follows:
  1. DD Form 1131 (DA Civilians Only), Cash Collection Voucher, Check or Money Order, are mandated for a replacement key.
  2. Cash Collection Voucher must state the building number, room number and quantity of keys the customer is requesting.
  3. The form of payment can be made to the Directorate of Public Works Budget Office, in bldg 4612.
  4. A receipt of the transaction will be given to the customer for RPPD to process request.
Process for receipt of keys to customer is 1-5 business days. Hand Receipt Holders and Signature Card Holders are the only personnel authorized to pick up and request keys.

Request for a Re-key
The monetary cost associated with lost keys and/or compromise of security due to negligence is the responsibility of the hand receipt holder. Please contact your Real Property Representative for further guidance at 254-287-2801.
