GM/Raytheon Automotive Service Technician (Shifting Gears)

 

This is a 12-week training program that results in priority access to employment opportunities as a Certified GM Service Technician at GM dealerships and repair centers nationwide. 

 

GM/Raytheon is designed for Active-Duty Service-Members who will be transitioning from Military Service within 180 days of starting the program.  This is a fulltime training program, with class being conducted during the duty day at the Fort Hood MWR Auto Shop. 

 

Training is conducted Monday thru Friday, 0730 – 1630.  Soldiers wear civilian attire, but are expected to maintain Army standards.  

 

Upon successful completion of the training program, Soldiers will be certified as an entry level GM Automotive Service Technician, and will have priority access to technician positions posted within the GM dealership portal. While Soldiers will be competing for these positions, they will have the requisite skills and in high demand. Upon being selected, the Soldier will be expected to relocate to that locale. 

 

The GM/Raytheon program allows Soldiers make a smooth transition to a lucrative career that pays a starting wage of $20.00+ per hour, with annual increases based on tenure and self-development.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Service Member must have at least 30 days remaining on active duty after the course end date.  Terminal leave will be reviewed during the application process.

·         Fully honorable discharge is anticipated, with no flags or personnel actions.

·         Commander supports dedicated participation in program, and signs the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

·         Soldier MOS 91B or related MOS, or exhibits strong mechanical aptitude/experience.

·         Soldier possess a high school credential: diploma or GED.

·         Soldier has ASVAB line scores of:  MM 92+, or  MM score of 87 and a GT score of 85

·         Be able to stand for long periods of time and able to lift 50 pounds; bending, turning, squatting is required to perform tasks.  

·         Mechanical/Electrical Acumen Requirement: A desired score of 80, on a GM STC placement assessment test. Test to be proctored by the Educational Service Division.
