Observed Fire Training (OFT) Facility

The OFT facility provides realistic simulations for units to instruct Forward Observers or Soldiers in any MOS in the proper procedures for requesting indirect fires.

Call-For-Fire Traininer II (CFFT II)

The CFFT II is a lightweight, rapidly deployable, observed fire-training system that provides multiple simulated battlefield environments for instructing Firt Support Specialist, Joint Fires Observers and Soldiers at the institutional and operational unit level. The CFFT II is capable of training Artillery, Type II and III Close Air Support (CAS), naval gunfire, and mortar missions.

  • Fort Sill, Fort Irwin, and Baghdad Databases
  • Supports Joint Fires Observer (JFO) training and certification
  • Supports Type II and III CAS training
  • Naval gunfire
  • AFATDS compatable

Units are responsible for providing their own instructors and operators. Operator training is available upon request.

JAVELIN Basic Skills Trainer (BST)

The Javelin BST provides critical classroom training for the Javelin anti-tank missile, the world's first man-portable fire-and-forget medium-range missile system. The Javelin trainers teach Soldiers how to effectively operate the missile system in a safe realistic environment.

The Javelin BST provides training in:

  • Field surveillance
  • Target identification, location, and acquisition
  • Fire mission control
  • Gunnery Training

Units are responsible for providing their own instructors and operators. Operator training is available upon request.

 

Fire Support Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (FSCATT)

The FSCATT provides gunnery team Cannon Crew Member 13B a virtual platform to conduct individual and collective tasks. Palladin crews can conduct drills to fire ammunitions and fuse combinations.

  • Shoots like real M109 SP Howitzer
  • Traverses 90 degrees left and right, elevates and cants
  • Uses dummy rounds, fuses, and charges
  • Sensors that read the round, charge, fuse, and fuse setting

Scheduling for use is handled through the TSC firedesk on the Fort Hood RFMSS.
